The new Aston Martin Vanquish was spotted testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife throughout the year and has now been confirmed to release in 2018. The Vanquish is set to move away from the more luxury competitors such as the Bentley Continental GT and closer to high-performance cars such as the Ferrari 812 Superfast but still maintaining sophisticated prestige.
This is exciting news as Aston Martin haven’t really built anything super sporty for the road in recent years. From the pictures, the car looks more aggressive than the current Vanquish and has a more hardcore, edgy guise to it. It has also been confirmed that there will be a Volante (or convertible) version of the car as well, which should really look the part.
The new Vanquish will use the same 5.2L V12 turbo-charged unit used in the current DB11, which produces 600bhp. The new Vanquish is set to raise the bar quite a bit higher than that though, and if Aston are aiming for the likes of the 812 Superfast, then we could see figures above 800bhp which are some serious figures.
This is just one of many new and exciting creations coming from the guys at Aston Martin, as they plan to also launch an SUV, the new Vantage and a mid-engined rival to the likes of Ferrari and McLaren. I have to say, the mid-engined supercar makes me very excited as it pushes Aston Martin into unknown territory against stiff competition.
