The motorsport world is in the transition of a major change. With Formula E on the rise and with Formula 1 looking like it’s on the gradual decline, many manufacturers are getting involved with the ‘new era’ of racing. Jaguar is one manufacturer in particular that has decided to invest heavily into this new racing culture by creating its own one make series that will follow the Formula E calendar this coming season.
The car that will be used is called the I-PACE. It will be a fully electric race car that we assume will follow similar traits and technology to the road car that has been announced recently. There are some facts about the series itself that we do know though. The full name given to the championship is the Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy that will take place in 10 cities across the world and have a grid of 20 cars, all being identical.
Jaguar have made it clear that this will be ‘History in the making’ by being the first international series for an electric-based production car. The official launch of this series is due imminently so information about the cars and fine details are yet to be released. The cars have been designed by the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations team and promise to ‘truly pack a punch’. Hopefully that means that these cars will be seriously quick.
I’m very excited to see what this series has to offer and I’m sure it will grow alongside Formula E for years to come. Stay tuned for further news on this series and keep up-to-date with the latest on Twitter @Jaguar and https://www. jaguar.co.za/electrification/i-pace-etrophy.html.
